Insulator: A material that isolates electrical components and prevents short circuits in a vaping device.

J

Juice- Another term for e-liquid is the flavoured liquid used in e-cigarettes.

Joules- Temperature control mods use Joules to measure power instead of Watts. Joules measure the energy delivered over time and are used to maintain a consistent temperature in the coil.

 K

L

Liquid- Another way of referring to e-liquid without the “E.”

Lung Hit-  Lung Hit is a vaping technique where the vapour is directly inhaled into the lungs, bypassing the mouth. The ability to achieve a direct lung hit depends on the device, tank, and coils used. Sub-ohm vaping is ideal for achieving a big lung hit because the atomizer has a resistance below 1.0 ohms.

Low Resistance- An outdated term for sub-ohm vaping involves using coils with a resistance below 1.0 ohms.

M

MTL – Mouth to lung- The most common vaping technique where the vapour is first drawn into the mouth before inhaled into the lungs.

Micro Coil-A type of coil used in vaping wrapped with the wire touching creates a tightly wound coil with a high surface area, resulting in better flavour and vapour production.

Mechanical mod- Mechanical mod is a vaping device with no built-in safety features or protection circuitry. A mechanical mod consists of a metal tube, a battery, a connector, and a firing button, making it unregulated and potentially dangerous for inexperienced users.

 N

Nicotine: The active stimulant ingredient in e-liquid that provides a satisfying sensation for users and is what smokers often crave when quitting tobacco cigarettes.

Nicotine Strengths: E-liquid has various nicotine strengths to help curb cravings for nicotine, with options ranging from zero nicotine to high concentrations for heavy smokers.
