Han Lik- Han Lik is credited with inventing the modern electronic cigarette, which uses a battery-powered heating element to vaporize e-liquid.

Hybrid- A connection found on mechanical mods where the tank or atomizer sits directly on top of the battery, resulting in better conductivity and potentially more excellent vapour production.

High Resistance (HR)- An atomizer with a higher ohm rating allows increased voltage levels to be applied to the coil without overheating it. It can result in a cooler and smoother vape experience.

Inhale- The process of drawing the vapour from your e-cig into your lungs when taking a puff.

Insulator: A material that isolates electrical components and prevents short circuits in a vaping device.

Juice- Another term for e-liquid is the flavoured liquid used in e-cigarettes.

Joules- Temperature control mods use Joules to measure power instead of Watts. Joules measure the energy delivered over time and are used to maintain a consistent temperature in the coil.

Kanthal- Kanthal is a type of heating wire used in atomizer heads. Kanthal is a brand name for an iron-chromium-aluminium alloy that is resistant to high temperatures and commonly used for vaping coil building.

Liquid- Another way of referring to e-liquid without the “E.”

Lung Hit-  Lung Hit is a vaping technique where the vapour is directly inhaled into the lungs, bypassing the mouth. The ability to achieve a direct lung hit depends on the device, tank, and coils used. Sub-ohm vaping is ideal for achieving a big lung hit because the atomizer has a resistance below 1.0 ohms.

Low Resistance- An outdated term for sub-ohm vaping involves using coils with a resistance below 1.0 ohms.

MTL – Mouth to lung- The most common vaping technique where the vapour is first drawn into the mouth before inhaled into the lungs.

Mod-  Mod is a term that can describe modifying a non-vaping-related item to be used as a vaporizer. In vaping, a mod generally refers to a device modified or designed for use with e-cigarettes.

Micro Coil-A type of coil used in vaping wrapped with the wire touching creates a tightly wound coil with a high surface area, resulting in better flavour and vapour production.

Mechanical mod- Mechanical mod is a vaping device with no built-in safety features or protection circuitry. A mechanical mod consists of a metal tube, a battery, a connector, and a firing button, making it unregulated and potentially dangerous for inexperienced users.

Nicotine: The active stimulant ingredient in e-liquid that provides a satisfying sensation for users and is what smokers often crave when quitting tobacco cigarettes.

Nicotine Strengths: E-liquid has various nicotine strengths to help curb cravings for nicotine, with options ranging from zero nicotine to high concentrations for heavy smokers.

Nickel Wire- A heating wire used in atomizer heads, commonly used with temperature control e-cigs. Nickel wire has a low resistance and can accurately regulate the coil’s temperature, providing a smooth and consistent vaping experience.

Ohm- A unit of measurement used to describe the electrical resistance of your atomizer coil. The lower the opposition, the more power is required to heat the coil and produce vapour.

Organic Cotton- A type of wicking material used in vape coils, organic cotton delivers clean and intense flavour. It is easy to work with and widely available.

O-ring: A small rubberized ring found on various parts of your vape tank that helps provide a secure seal and allows for easy assembly and disassembly. This is particularly important for tanks made of glass and metal to prevent leaking or breakage.
